Gyudon is an ultra-comforting Japanese classic, featuring thinly sliced beef simmered in a savory soy-mirin sauce and served over steamed rice. The semi-poached egg yolks create a rich, savory sauce that melds perfectly with the tender beef.
It’s important to use very thinly sliced beef for this recipe! The thicker the slices, the more chance you’ll have a tough and chewy result. We recommend purchasing pre-packaged sliced beef in your local Asian grocer, or asking your local butcher for help!
